4th National Junior Cycling Championship begins on Tuesday

The fourth edition of the National Junior Cycling Championship began last day as on 10 May. It will continue for three days form 10 May 2011 to 12 May 2011. The track events are organised at cycling velodrome while the roads events will take place at Abdullah Interchange Ring Road. “In order to avoid scorching heat, the races at velodrome will be organised under light for the comfort of the riders and for the entertainment of the lovers of the game,” said Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) secretary general Idris Haider Khawaja on Monday.

He said all nine affiliated units of the PCF including Balochistan, FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab Sindh, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Railways, Sui Southern Gas Company and Pakistan WAPDA would take part in the event.

“This championship will be a step forward in promoting cycling among the youth of the country,” said the PCF official. Shahryar Ali Malik, senior executive Guard Group of Companies, will inaugurate the competition while Punjab minister for education Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
